Opening the door

I have decided to open the door.
It is called MASSMESS. It is what we will perform at LaMaMa on May 7th as a spin off of MathTime.
The power of mass. How can we use it?
This is a collaboration between a huge space, the mass and us.

Where is a door

Thinking about the show at LaMaMa.
Creating work is also a collaboration with a space.
How we can get into there, how to tame it, how to communicate with the audience in there.
Every space has different distance.

People -> Work -> Space ?

Space -> Work -> People?

Still looking for a door to enter...

People -> (Work/Space) -> Work
was the model I tried at E|MERGE.

NEXT

MathTime goes.

I am starting the rehearsals for the showcase on May 7th at LaMaMa Experimental Theater hosted by Miki Orihara. Now in the process of choosing the material. Saw the space the other day and it was very big, spacey and far. But the things I learnt at MathTime and E|MERGE are already helping.

Collaboration.

This is the hardest thing to find, but the greatest thing to have.

The wonderful picture above was taken by Rachel Saudek at Earthdance.

MATH TIME IS

MATH is our language
Shapes, figures, numbers, patterns, games, scores, structures, music, drawings...
We share the idea, dynamism, laughters, momentum through this language
To create something we could call dance, art, performance, act, music, theater, gathering

With the magical collaborators:
Five artists
The work is the footprint how we existed there
Not a format

Work is the time
Work is the place
Work is the personality

Report I

It has been already 2 weeks since we finished the residency of E|MERGE.
Feels it was a dream. The fresh air of the mountain, the best vegetarian food, beautiful rehearsal space, lots of idea by the collaborators, music at nights, laughters, some tears, snacks, coffee, and art making. We gathered already after the residency, for Maurizio's work shop, and some people for parties. What a wonderful community.

Math Time, our project there, came out on the deep thoughts, lots of discussion and trials, and above all, COLLABORATIONS. It was hard to define OUR collaboration, but I feel we got to somewhere after the struggles. We learnt a lot as well.

This picture shows our structure method. We talked a lot using these pieces of papers.
Fun to draw, fun to switch things around.
